Most people know Valley Corporation for our large-scale roadway projects—but that’s only part of what we do. From utility construction and demolition to aggregate recycling and lighting installations, we provide a wide range of services that support the infrastructure and livability of communities across eastern Nebraska.
One recent example is our work at La Vista Central Park, a stunning transformation of the former La Vista Falls Golf Course into one of the metro area’s most inviting public spaces. Valley Corp was proud to contribute to this effort by installing a new lighting system throughout the park’s walking path. Our team trenched and bored conduits and installed 59 new light poles, laying over 29,000 feet of underground conduit and pulling more than 59,000 feet of wire. The result is a well-lit, accessible park that not only looks incredible after dark but also improves safety and extends usability into evening hours.
Lighting plays a critical role in modern park design. It helps deter crime, reduces the risk of accidents, and creates a more welcoming environment for events, recreation, and casual visits. At Central Park, the lighting enhances every aspect of the visitor experience—from peaceful evening walks to high-energy concerts at nearby venues.
A New Chapter for La Vista
The redevelopment of Central Park is a major milestone in the City of La Vista’s broader 84th Street corridor revitalization effort. Driven by input from residents, stakeholders, and city leaders, the park was designed with an open layout and flexible spaces that support everything from large events to quiet moments in nature. Passive recreation areas, formal gardens, natural play zones, community gathering spaces, and habitat restoration areas come together to form a dynamic and inclusive environment.
The park’s thoughtful design also connects seamlessly to the surrounding area, including The Astro and The Astro Amphitheater, Nebraska’s first indoor-outdoor multipurpose event venue. Together, these public and private spaces offer something for everyone—from nationally touring music acts to families out for a picnic or a walk by the lake.
Central Park: Where Community Comes Together
Central Park officially opened to the public in September 2019 and continues to grow as a vibrant destination for both La Vista residents and the wider metro community. As lighting, landscaping, and other improvements continue, the park is already fulfilling its vision as a civic showpiece—offering beauty, safety, recreation, and reflection.
For Valley Corp, contributing to this transformation has been a meaningful way to support the region we’ve called home for over 50 years. Whether it’s lighting a path, building a road, or laying the groundwork for something new, we’re proud to help shape the spaces that move our communities forward.
